Off Shore Fishing Costa Rica
One of Costa Rica’s most recognized reason for travel would be our Off-Shore Sport Fishing Costa Rica. Constantly breaking national records all over with size, weight, species and quantity. In Janurary 2014 Costa Rica, specifically Los Sueños marina in Jacó broke the world record for most billfish caught in a tournament. The original record was 1400 billfish caught and released, Los Sueños recorded 2170 billfish caught and released. Depending on a half day or a Full Day Fishing Tours Costa Rica we will go anywhere between 20 miles and 50 miles off-shore. Professional trolling lures and/ or ballyhoo bait with circle hooks will be used, in the situation that live bait was unable to be found. The “bait and switch” with teasers and pitch baits is the most popular method on the big boats. Year around you will find that the sailfish bite is well above average and are normally over 100 lbs. It is not uncommon for a good day to consist of 15-30 sailfish caught and released or even on a slow day between 3-8 sailfish caught and realeased. You will also be fishing for different types of Marlin, Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), different types of Tuna and Wahoo. All the fish have specific season when the bite is better, except sailfish, the bite is ALWAYS good!!!
